LGfL and the Local Authorities

The London Grid for Learning (LGfL) is the local consortium of all 33 London Local Authorities.

Local Authorities (previously LEAs) perform a number of functions. Generally, they provide:

  • Strategic management of Local Education.
  • Resources and services to schools.
  • Educational access for children and other learners.
  • Support and challenge to schools.
  • Services for Special Educational Needs

The Regional Broadband Consortia (RBCs) of England were set up to provide regional procurement of Broadband connectivity and content across a number of regional LAs.

There are 10 RBCs in England and direct links to their sites are found here along with the other national grids.
