Oxford Reference Online (Oxford University Press)
Over 150 trusted dictionaries and reference books covering the whole subject spectrum. New books and new editions are added every 3 months and extra material such as timelines and links to other websites.

 

Grove Art Online (Oxford University Press)
Offers fully cross-searchable access to over 45,000 specially-commissioned articles covering every aspect of the visual arts worldwide (including the complete text of the 34-volume Dictionary of Art) plus over 5,000 images. New and revised articles, and additional images, are added on a regular basis.

Grove Music Online (Oxford University Press)
Access to over 50,000 specially-commissioned articles (including the full text of the 29-volume New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians) covering everything from Bach to the Blues and from harmony to hip hop plus over 500 sound examples. New and revised articles are added on a regular basis.

Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (Oxford University Press)
An online edition of the 60-volume Oxford Dictionary of National Biography offering cross-searchable access to specially-written biographies of over 56,000 people who have shaped the British past over the last 2,400 years. Also offers 10,000 portrait illustrations plus an expanding range of themed articles with direct links to biographies.

 

Oxford Language Dictionaries Online (Oxford University Press)
Offers support for teaching and learning in French, German, Spanish, Italian – including over 1.2 million words and phrases, over 2 million translations, click through verb tables, advice on grammar plus an expanding range of ancillary material such as information on life and culture and downloadable correspondence templates

Please check on your local authority libraries website that these resources are available 24/7. For one or two resources on a very small number of LA sites, access is restricted to in the library. Some LAs do not have an online reference section on their council website.
It is a condition of the People's Network licence that LAs and schools must not embed in websites, VLEs or MLEs direct links to the URLs of the resources.
