This newsfeed endeavors to share developments to help raise awareness of what is available out there.

Teachers are busy professionals. The aim is to keep it short, quick and informative.

London MLE – End of Year Procedures

Three new documents which outline the process for End of Year within the London MLE are now available. The process has been broken down into 3 stages and the attached guides for administrators and teachers provide detailed guidance. There is also an executive summary providing a general overview:

·         EOY_London_MLE_Admin.pdf (updated 28-07-08)

·         EOY_London_MLE_Teachers_Guide.pdf

·         EOY_London_MLE_Exec_Summary.pdf

Schools can start this process now and continue during the summer and into early next academic year where necessary. Stage 3, which outlines the new MIS import process and how to check room access rights, will be available shortly. The existing guides will be updated to reflect this. However schools should not be completing Stage 3 until the start of the new academic year.

Fronter will also shortly be issuing a separate guide for KS2 to KS3 transition.

Please be assured that everyone at Fronter UK and LGfL are committed to making this process as smooth as possible and as always schools can contact technical support on 020 8255 5555 option 5 if they have any further questions or concerns.

Among the guest speakers were Paul Shoesmith from Becta on MIS integration and Roger Larsen from Fronter on the London MLE. The presentations from the day are online for reference in the events section.

Redbridge Podcasting Network

This network began its development in July 2007.  There are three schools and the Redbridge Primary ICT consultant involved in the network:

The aims of the network were to discover:

  • What is effective Podcasting?
  • What is its value to teaching and learning?

They have achieved this through regular meetings, evaluating software, trialling ideas and sharing practice.  As you will see from the examples given by the schools, they achieved their objectives. Please click on the link to find out more and download an instant INSET for your school to get started on podcasting.

Waltham Forest – `Animals Into Art Assembly` via Video Conference

On July 3rd at 9.30am Chingford Hall Primary, Barclay Junior, Dawlish Primary, Hillyfield Primary, Gwyn Jones Primary and The Beaumont School in Waltham Forest all met via video conference using Click to Meet.  Four schools were able to give live presentations to each other and to Tom Whitehead (Animals into Art, Consultant) and Aysha Kamal (Literacy Consultant, LBWF) who were judging the performances from each school. The multipoint video conference was a great success. It was the best possible technological solution that could have been used to bring all the schools together, at the same time.  To listen to the children’s podcasts and view their art work from the competition go to:
